Air Transportation
Air transport in India started in 1911 AD, when the world’s first air mail service was operated between Allahabad and Naini. In 1933 AD, National Airways Co. was established in India. Was established. In 1953 AD, all the aeronautical companies were nationalized and placed under two newly created corporations -1. Aircraft Corporation of India 2. Air India. Apart from the internal parts of the country, Indian Airlines also provides services to the neighboring countries of Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, and Afghanistan. Air India provides services to foreign countries.


In 1981 AD, a third corporation named Vayudoot was established for domestic flights in the country, which later merged with the Aircraft Corporation of India.
On August 24, 2007, public sector aviation companies Air India and Indian Airlines merged. Both these companies are now operating under the name of National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL). The brand name of the company is ‘Air India’.


Airports Authority of India was formed on April 1, 1995. The authority manages international airports, domestic airports and civil aircraft terminals in the country.
